Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) are counseling experiences that utilize horses in a counseling session facilitated by Licensed Mental Health Professional, Julie Martin, and an Equine Specialist.
One session can be an incredible transformational experience. It’s a powerful tool for those who feel stuck in therapy or coaching and want to progress, or it can be used as sole form of therapy or coaching.
During equine therapy sessions, Julie uses the horses' innate ability to mirror non-verbal communication to guide the participant/s through increased awareness and potential for personal change. Skills that often emerge in the presence of horses include:
• present-centered self-awareness • personal responsibility • effective verbal and non-verbal communication • well-directed assertiveness • attachment, bonding and trust • creativity • new, effective solutions • healthy boundaries
To learn more about what to expect in a session with the horses and the effectiveness of Equine Assisted Therapy download the informational Equine Therapy Handout and visit www.eagala.org.
